The Design Kids (TDK) is a global organisation with a mission to bridge the gap between education and industry, providing mentoring, internships and job opportunities as well as offering monthly meetups for designers and creatives.
In May, Rare had the pleasure of throwing open our doors to host ‘The Design Kids x Rare Studio Open Night’ and welcomed an enthusiastic group of design students, recent grads and junior designers, all keen to get an inside look at the life of a designer in an ad agency.
Our Design Director Enrico Bettesworth and Head of Digital Design Monique Gordon were only too happy to oblige, taking the group through the Rare design process, the importance we place on collaboration at Rare, and showing off some of the great projects they’ve worked on over the years, explaining the thinking and back story behind them.
The night finished with a Q&A session, sharing everything from how they got their start in the industry, to the highs (and occasional lows) and a few hot tips on how to succeed in the industry, all washed down with a beverage or two and pizza.
Enrico and Mon both agreed that hosting The Design Kids event was a great opportunity for Rare to support the next generation of designers and give back to the design community.
